One of my latest pleasures in life has been throwing CD’s away. Yes you heard correctly. Throwing CD’s away. I don’t mean purchased CD’s. Burned CD’s. When my iPod’s battery died I had to move to the car CD player as the best place to listen to my podcasts. In order to do that, I have to burn the shows to CD. But what to do when you’ve listened to all the shows on the disc. Easy solution. Throw it away. Why is this so pleasurable. Because I’ve grown up in a “keep everything” culture. Generations of my family keep everything and I’m prone to the same thing. But the time comes when stuff just doesn’t need to be kept anymore. So this is a symbolic way of telling myself that it’s OK to let things go. So do it today. Find something that’s served it’s purpose, and throw it away.
Throwing it all away
