The End of Papyrus as we know it

February 15th, 2006 · No Comments

PapyrusI have long been suspicious that the font Papyrus needs to be put to rest. I’m sure you’ve seen this and probably used it yourself. It was first used nationally in the poster for the film “Pirates of the Caribbean.” I use it in our bulletin as a header. But it is overexposed. Today I saw it at my gas company. I see it on posters all the time. The curious thing is that I don’t feel the same about Helvetica, or Times. But that’s because they are meat and potatoes fonts. Papyrus is a decorative font. It’s just overexposed. So I am proposing a moratorium on the font Papyrus. May it rest in peace.
