Habits

It’s amazing to realize how much I am a creature of habit. Lately the mirror I have been looking into has been my 2 year old son. It first happened when I was making my morning lattes. He would stand by and watch. The next thing I knew, he was anticipating my every move. The one that was funniest was that after grinding the beans, I take out the canister that the ground coffee goes into and I tap it on the counter a little. The static electricity generated from the grinding causes the ground coffee to stick to the side. One day, he excitedly reached for the canister after the grinder stopped and began banging it on the counter. I didn’t even realize that he was imitating me at first because I did this rather unconsciously.

The second encounter with my habits was when every morning when I started getting out of bed, he started running around to my side to pick up my pocketpc and ipod. When I go to bed at night, I read the evening prayer from http://www.universalis.com and I listen to music or podcasts on the ipod while dozing off to sleep. When I get up in the morning, the first thing I do is to pick them up so the little guy doesn’t get into them. He obviously started noticing this habit, ’cause next thing I knew he was running around to my side of the bed and picking them up and handing them to me. Amazing.

So you used your pocket pc and ipod every night? Dude! You really are a techie, aren’t you? I find that I don’t go too many places without my palm and cell phone, either. I am anticipating getting my first lap top soon, so I know that will be a part of my “luggage”, too!

You still haven’t clued me in on the podcast scene. Where do you get yours?

    Viva technology!!
