Tech Discoveries

With the help of Ezra, just installed Kanotix Linux on my PC. It was a piece of cake. We had windows 98 installed on it and it was just slow and clunky. Kanotix is running much better, plus it’s user interface is much more modern.

My pocketpc is having trouble with the screen alignment. When I touch the screen with the stylus, it pushes a character to the left of what I actually touched. It may be a battery problem. So, I’m currently lusting after the Dell Axim X30. Really neat.. good price…WIFI! I’ve been having battery problems since I got it, so it would be nice to have a fresh battery.

Because Deana works at Target, we get a 10% discount, so last week, I bought a 4gig iPod mini. It’s fabulous. I have 30gig of music on my harddrive, so I’ve discovered a new pleasure which is deciding what music I want on the ipod. 4gigs is 1,000 songs, so no matter what I put on it, there is something good to listen to. Some people have said it’s like making my own 1,000 song mix tapes

Speaking of the ipod, I’ve rediscovered podcasts. I already had been downloading podcasts, but the only way I had to listen to them was to either sit down with my laptop and listen, or burn them to CD for a trip. But now I have it set so that when I download them in itunes, they automatically get updated to my ipod. Fantastic! I know this has been said before, but it’s like TiVo for radio.

Bro, you make my “mouth water” when I read about your latest technological discoveries and aquisitions. I love those kind of “toys”. I have always been several steps (or perhaps blocks) behind in understanding technology, but I love it just the same. I’ve been wanting an ipod for a long time now. When I got my PDA last year, I made sure it could handle music. It does with a 512MB card, but it’s not an ipod.

    Anyway…
