Psalm 37:5 “Entrust your journey to the Lord and hope in Him: and He will act”
One of the wonderful discoveries when you do regular devotions is that certain verses will jump out at you. This doesn’t seem to happen to me if my reading is only casual and occasional.
This week during my morning reading, this verse jumped out. It’s so easy for my life to be cluttered with acts of myself, my family and those I come in contact with throughout the day. Distracted by all this activity, I forget that “God will act.” But He will. And just like my devotions, if I get in the habit of looking for His activity, little things will jump out at me.
This week, the sale of our home closed, and our proceeds were deposited in our account. A day after this happened, I looked at Deana and said “We sold our house.” It’s still a shock to me. Honestly, I expected that at any moment the deal would fall through, so this was a tremendous sense of accomplishment. Deana said “God sold our house.” And He did.
“Entrust your journey to the Lord… and He will act.” We need to be regularly looking for God’s actions, trusting our journey to Him, so that we might see Him clearly when He acts, like He did in the sale of our home.
