House is empty. Trailer is packed. Family is in the car. We are on our way moving to Idaho. Yay! We’re traveling through Pendleton, OR right now, and I’m passing the time browsing through blogs, sending links to friends and now posting.
Moving has been exciting. We loaded 2 dumpsters, and probably 6 trips to the dump out of our home. My Dad thinks we threw away a literal ton. In an email to a friend, I recently wrote that moving is like pushing the reset button on life. To be honest, we still have a lot to sift through. But it’s a start.
Aside from getting rid of junk, it is wonderful to be a family again. I’ve spent the last 6 months living a nine hour drive away from my family. I’ve said it to a few of my children that “I don’t need to say goodbye anymore.” I’m saying it for their benefit, but also for mine. Distance makes the heart grow fonder. I’ve never been so in love with my wife. And never loved my children more.
I have a 6 month head start on my family in this new adventure. I can’t wait to get them caught up.
