Well… here I am in Filer Idaho. My trip went well. There was only snow on the Blue Mts. and it wasn’t bad enough to slow me down dramatically. The cats weathered the trip. They sat on my lap the whole time. They were pretty cute when I got to the house. They hid under the refrigerator until they got used to the house.

I preached my first sermon this Sunday which felt OK from my end. I will begin posting my sermons here once I get internet at my house (tomorrow… yay!) and at the church (this week hopefully).

Tonight (Monday) I have my first Elder meeting. It should be good.

I’m getting a feel for the region. It’s a whole new experience making a new land your own. I am now a resident of the Magic Valley, and no longer a resident of the Columbia Basin. I know I take a real philosophical approach to life and it is no different in this change. I am conscious of wanting to “feel” a resident of the Magic Valley. To make it my home. It’s a big transition when I lived in the Columbia Basin for my whole life.

The congregation is wonderful and has been very hospitable. I had a meal with a family from the church which was both delicious and entertaining, as their son-in-laws are both quite the cards.

I miss being with my family. I’ve noticed that the evenings are the worst. I have to keep a movie or TV or music on to keep the house from being lonely. The cats help. I’m glad I brought them with me, and not just one but two. Hermione and Castatto both sleep on my bed at night. The first night they were in my face but they’ve stopped that now and just sleep at the foot of the bed.
